Often, I will be contacted by families telling me horrific tales of breach of care. Although I always point out that I am not qualified to advise them on whether they have a case, I do always signpost to https://www.avma.org.uk or https://www.apil.org.uk in their search for specialist representation.
I will explain the chain of causation and remind them that there can be what appears to be the most appalling case of breach of care, yet no actual case nor settlement. Until admissions are made, nobody knows, and nothing is guaranteed. We do have several families though, who have got to a point with their original solicitor who said they could not progress, then go on to a new solicitor who achieves a settlement for them.
